Group Financial Controller – ASX-Listed Biotech (Hybrid)

About the role

An ASX-listed, clinical-stage biotechnology business in Melbourne (hybrid) is looking for a Group Financial Controller. The company is in Phase 2 clinical trials, works regularly with the FDA and is a lean team of around 20 people, with R&D delivered through contract manufacturers. The current CFO/Company Secretary is moving towards semi-retirement, so you will own the finance and governance agenda and be a key partner to the Board and executive team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead ASX compliance and corporate governance
• Contribute to strategic planning and decision making
• Own cash flow management and keep the leadership team informed
• Prepare Board communications and reporting, and write Board proposals
• Perform financial analysis
• Lead and support an experienced accountant who handles much of the day-to-day finance operations
• Build relationships with key stakeholders and understand the regulatory environment

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (CA or CPA)
• Experience as a Financial Controller, Group Financial Controller or similar senior finance role
• Exposure to a listed environment is highly regarded
• Strong understanding of corporate governance and compliance obligations
• Confident working with the Board and presenting to senior stakeholders
• Interest in the biotech and regulatory space

Required skills

• Comfortable with MYOB and Excel
• Solid analytical and cash flow management skills
