Graduate Transition Registered Nurse (Mental Health) – 2026 Mid-Year Intake

About the role

Mercy Mental Health & Wellbeing's Learning and Development Team is recruiting a 2026 mid-year graduate transition registered nurse. The role sits within a supportive, recovery-focused service that develops the future mental health nursing workforce, working alongside experienced educators, clinical supervisors and multidisciplinary teams. It is a part-time, fixed-term position of 12 months, 28 hours per week, covering RPN2 Year 2 to RPN2 Year 8.

Key responsibilities

• Develop mental health nursing knowledge and clinical skills through a structured learning program while working as part of a multidisciplinary mental health team.
• Build therapeutic relationships with consumers, families and carers, supporting recovery-oriented practice through collaborative care planning, advocacy and person-centred care.
• Provide high-quality, recovery-oriented, person-centred care, including assessments, monitoring of mental and physical health and support for recovery planning.
• Take part in education, clinical supervision and professional development to build confidence and expertise in contemporary mental health nursing.

Required profile

• Resilient, compassionate and committed to patient-centred care.
• Desire to complete a specialist qualification in mental health.
• Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
• Covid vaccination status.
