Graduate Systems Engineer

About the role

Symbio, part of the Aussie Broadband Group, is looking for a Graduate Systems Engineer to start on 9 February 2027. You will help maintain, support and improve the critical infrastructure that powers the business, learning from experienced engineers and contributing to real projects. The role is based in Sydney with a hybrid work model combining office and remote work.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the administration, configuration and maintenance of Linux and Windows servers and endpoints.
• Monitor system health, availability, performance, disk capacity and resource utilisation.
• Support OS patching, upgrades, security configuration and vulnerability remediation.
• Maintain system configuration standards and technical documentation.
• Troubleshoot OS, service, authentication and connectivity issues, and connectivity between servers, endpoints, network services and management platforms.
• Help maintain an accurate inventory of managed systems, OS versions and configuration status.
• Develop knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, VLANs, firewalls and subnetting.
• Assist with monitoring of availability, resource use, service status and management agent health, and track patch levels and security updates.
• Follow a structured development pathway with mentoring and participate in graduate program workshops.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering or a related discipline completed within the last two years.
• Previous exposure to systems engineering, infrastructure or IT operations is highly valued but not essential.
• Strong interest in infrastructure, cloud technologies, operating systems and automation.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, curiosity and eagerness to learn.

Required skills

• Exposure to Linux and/or Windows server administration.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP.
• Basic scripting with Python, PowerShell and/or Bash.
