Graduate Occupational Therapist – Mental Health

About the role

Mercy Health is recruiting Mental Health Graduate Occupational Therapists for a part-time, fixed-term position (0.8 EFT, 64 hours per fortnight) starting 8 February 2027 and ending 4 February 2029. The role is rotational across the Wyndham and Hobsons Bay areas, with opportunities to develop skills in bed-based, residential/rehabilitation and community settings. It is open to graduates with an approved degree in Occupational Therapy and current or pending registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, client-focused occupational therapy assessment and interventions to clients, their families and carers
• Work within a holistic, recovery-oriented, strengths-based and culturally sensitive approach aligned with organisational values
• Be part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team in a high-growth metropolitan mental health program
• Deliver responsive and flexible service to consumers and carers

Required profile

• Resilient, compassionate and committed to patient-centred care
• Passion for mental health, advocacy and recovery
• Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve
• Able to nurture respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team
• Full Australian working rights and ability to work a minimum of 64 hours per fortnight
• Current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check, and current COVID-19 certificate and influenza vaccination (and other vaccinations consistent with public health orders)
• Full driver's licence, particularly for the second-year community rotation
