Graduate Chemist

About the role

Bureau Veritas, a global leader in laboratory testing, inspection and certification, is looking for a Graduate Chemist to join its Metals & Minerals team in Canning Vale. The role is part of a structured graduate development program and gives hands-on exposure to sample preparation, fire assay, wet chemistry, instrumentation, XRF analysis and automated robotic laboratory systems.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with sample preparation and analytical testing activities
• Learn and perform laboratory procedures in line with standards
• Support wet chemistry, fire assay and instrumentation operations
• Assist with XRF analysis and gain exposure to automated robotic laboratory systems
• Record, interpret and report laboratory data accurately
• Follow quality control procedures and laboratory best practices
• Complete testing within required turnaround times
• Maintain laboratory equipment and housekeeping standards
• Follow safety, environmental and company procedures
• Take part in training, development and cross-functional projects

Required profile

• Recent graduate or final-year student in chemistry or science
• Passion for a career in laboratory sciences
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Eager to learn technical laboratory skills and able to follow procedures safely
• Well organised, with good time management and problem-solving abilities

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer systems
