Graduate Accountant - Melbourne

About the role

Robert Bird Group (RBG), a global consulting engineering firm, is looking for a motivated Graduate Accountant to join its Finance team in Melbourne. The role suits a recent accounting graduate who wants practical experience, commercial skills and exposure to the wider business in a supportive, collaborative environment. You will support the Finance, Commercial and Operations teams and work closely with experienced colleagues and internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and issue monthly client invoices
• Support project reviews and project quality audits to minimise risk and maximise performance
• Sourcing approvals, coding and processing creditor invoices, and responding to creditor enquiries
• Support day-to-day accounting activities and assist with budgeting and forward revenue forecasting
• Assist with third-party audit processes when required
• Maintain and administer company credit card statements
• Help the Commercial and Operations Support teams with management reports, legal documents and business correspondence
• Maintain accurate financial records, documentation and filing systems, and provide general administrative support to the Finance team

Required profile

• Recently completed or near-completed degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline
• Strong attention to detail, good analytical and problem-solving skills, and strong organisational and time-management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and work independently while remaining a team player
• Proactive, willing to take initiative, and interested in building a career

Required skills

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Strong computer literacy and confidence learning new systems
