Google Cloud Architect / Lead Platform Engineer

About the role

NCS Australia is expanding its Google Cloud Solutions Group and needs a senior technical authority to design, secure, and build a suite of core platform components ahead of a major January go‑live. This role blends enterprise architecture, zero‑trust security governance, and hands‑on platform engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Design, document, and deliver ~15 enterprise‑grade platform solutions such as secrets management, workload identity federation, custom landing zones, and advanced CI/CD pipelines.
• Partner with security architects to embed zero‑trust controls, conduct threat‑modeling, and steer solutions through formal governance reviews.
• Build resilient GCP foundations using GKE, Cloud Run, Google Cloud VMware Engine, Compute Engine, and enterprise VPC topologies.
• Develop production‑ready Terraform modules following GitOps and Cloud Foundation Fabric patterns.
• Create automated build/release pipelines with GitHub Actions, Cloud Build, Cloud Deploy, and custom Python/Bash scripts.
• Implement observability across workloads using OpenTelemetry, New Relic, and service‑mesh architectures.

Required profile

• Proven senior/lead experience as a GCP architect or principal platform engineer on enterprise‑scale projects.
• Hands‑on ability to write production‑grade Terraform, configure complex network topologies, and troubleshoot platform pipelines.
• Deep expertise in zero‑trust architecture, GCP IAM, KMS, Secret Manager, and workload identity.
• Professional Google Cloud certification (e.g., Cloud Architect, Cloud DevOps Engineer, or Cloud Security Engineer).
