GIS Analyst – Melbourne

About the role

SMEC is seeking a GIS Analyst to join its Melbourne team and support major infrastructure projects across Victoria and ANZ. You will work alongside engineering specialists in a collaborative, flexible environment, contributing to map production, spatial data management and advanced analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in map and graphics production for engineering projects.
• Manage spatial data, ensuring quality and consistency.
• Perform advanced spatial analysis to support planning, design and assessment tasks.
• Develop and maintain data‑collection applications.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional GIS experience, preferably in engineering, environmental or infrastructure consulting.
• Strong proficiency with ESRI GIS applications and platforms.
• Ability to conduct advanced spatial analysis and support project stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise Portal, Dashboards, Experience Builder, Field Maps, Survey123, Quick Capture.
• Advanced spatial analysis techniques.
• Python scripting for GIS automation.
• FME workflow development.
• Fulcrum data‑collection app experience.
