General Manager - Heritage Bar

About the role

The Doss House is an intimate heritage underground bar in The Rocks, NSW, known for its vintage interior and focus on quality beverages and warm hospitality. It is looking for a full-time, on-site General Manager to oversee day-to-day operations of the venue.

Key responsibilities

• Manage staff schedules and supervise front-of-house service
• Ensure consistent, high-quality guest experiences
• Monitor inventory, coordinate with suppliers and manage bar presentation and maintenance
• Handle financial tasks such as budgeting, reporting and cost control
• Drive marketing initiatives, events and promotions to grow revenue
• Lead and develop the team, maintain compliance with safety and licensing regulations and uphold the bar's heritage brand standards

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in hospitality or bar/restaurant management, with team leadership and staff development skills
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
• Prior experience in a heritage, boutique or high-end bar setting is highly regarded; formal hospitality or business qualifications are an advantage

Required skills

• Operational skills: venue supervision, inventory control, supplier coordination and scheduling
• Budget management, interpretation of financial reports and cost control
• Customer service, conflict resolution and event coordination, including promotions and social media collaboration
• Familiarity with local licensing, health and safety regulations
