General Manager Finance

About the role

The General Manager Finance reports to the CFO and provides strategic finance decision‑making support to Executive General Managers across a nationally operating construction and manufacturing business. The role acts as a trusted advisor, ensuring accurate financial reporting, robust controls and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Executive and State General Managers to deliver financial insight, forecasts, budgets and business cases.
• Lead, coach and develop the finance team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain a standardised reporting suite with manufacturing metrics for Board, Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews.
• Implement and oversee operational and financial controls, including segregation of duties, project management, inventory and Security of Payments Act compliance.
• Identify and execute cost‑leadership efficiencies, working‑capital optimisation and long‑term process improvements.

Required profile

• Business degree with CPA or CA qualification.
• Extensive experience in finance leadership within construction and manufacturing environments.
• Proven ability to lead finance teams in a matrix organisation.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Willingness to travel to sites across Australia as required.

• Advanced knowledge of ERP systems and finance transformation projects.
