General Manager – Data Strategy, Management & Governance

About the role

The General Manager of Data Strategy, Management and Governance will shape and govern ANZ’s enterprise data strategy, ensuring data is treated as a strategic asset with clear ownership, strong controls and measurable outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve ANZ’s enterprise data strategy, operating model and multi‑year roadmap.
• Lead the uplift of data management practices across ownership, stewardship, standards, controls, lineage, quality, metadata and governance.
• Partner with Technology, Risk, CDAIO and business stakeholders to translate strategy into delivery priorities and measurable outcomes.
• Oversee enterprise data governance tooling, including data catalogue, data quality, metadata and lineage capabilities.
• Track and report on data health, quality, ownership, lineage, control maturity and compliance.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in data management, data engineering or equivalent.
• Proven experience defining and implementing enterprise data strategy, operating models and governance frameworks in large, complex organisations.
• Deep understanding of data management disciplines such as data quality, lineage, metadata, critical data elements, ownership and stewardship.
• Strong ability to influence senior stakeholders across technology, risk and business functions.
• Experience leading data governance tooling and practices, e.g., data catalogues and metadata management.
