GCP Data Engineer – Data Modelling

About the role

Join the Insignia Financials Data Engineering team as a GCP Data Engineer/Modeller. You will work on an enterprise‑wide data platform built on Google Cloud, leveraging BigQuery and preparing the foundation for future machine‑learning and AI initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse complex source systems to understand data structures, semantics and quality characteristics.
• Map source data into enterprise and analytical data models, ensuring consistency and usability.
• Design, develop and refine analytical data structures that support reporting, analytics and integration requirements.
• Build and maintain data pipelines that ingest, transform and integrate data across multiple platforms.
• Develop and maintain workflow orchestration processes and DAGs using tools such as Airflow or Cloud Composer.
• Optimise data pipelines for performance, scalability, reliability and operational efficiency.
• Partner with business stakeholders, data analysts and technology teams to validate data definitions and modelling assumptions.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytical data modelling and transformation design.
• Strong knowledge of analytical modelling concepts (facts, dimensions, grain, historical patterns) and experience with Data Vault modelling.
• Proven ability to analyse complex source systems and translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Advanced SQL skills and experience implementing complex transformation logic, preferably in Google BigQuery.
