Freight Operator Level 4 – Heavy Equipment

About the role

Join Aurizon at the Stuart Terminal in Townsville as a Freight Operator, responsible for safely operating heavy lifting and terminal equipment in a dynamic rail and logistics environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate medium/heavy forklifts and reach stackers, handling loads exceeding 16 tonnes.
• Perform serviceability checks, cleaning and lower‑level maintenance on rolling stock and terminal equipment.
• Maintain and operate various terminal and site equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency.

Required profile

• Strong commitment to safety and knowledge of workplace health & safety and dangerous goods regulations.
• Willingness to work day, afternoon, night shifts (up to 12‑hour shifts) and weekends as required.
• Ability to demonstrate mechanical aptitude.

Required skills

• Experience operating medium/heavy forklifts and reach stackers.
• Forklift and crane tickets.
• RS Class Driver’s Licence (preferred) and DG licence (highly regarded).
