Freelance Senior Graphic Designers (Packaging, Conceptual, Editorial)

About the role

Aquent is recruiting freelance senior graphic designers for a leading publishing house that makes books, craft DIY kits, coloring books, jigsaw puzzles and journals. The role covers three specialist tracks: Senior Packaging Designer, Senior Creative / Conceptual Designer and Trend-Led / Editorial Designer. The work shapes the visual identity of products, from packaging to editorial content, in a creative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Packaging: elevate existing product lines across kids, toys, craft and games; design packaging that stands out on retail shelves using colour, hierarchy and messaging; use AI tools for rapid concept generation and image exploration.
• Conceptual design: act as a big-picture thinker, translate global trends into commercially viable product ranges, and turn ideas into distinct visual directions using AI and trend research.
• Editorial design: apply a contemporary, youthful aesthetic to journals, books, stationery and lifestyle items, modernise classic aesthetics with fresh typography and colours while keeping the brand's core identity.

Required profile

• Compelling portfolio showing strong typography, colour and a clear passion for design.
• Senior-level experience in graphic design, focused on packaging, conceptual design or editorial design.
• Ability to develop creative concepts and turn them into market-ready designs.
• Understanding of visual hierarchy, composition and brand identity.
• Nice to have: extensive experience with major retail clients or products for large retail chains (packaging).
