Forward Deployed AI Engineer (Senior/Principal)

About the role

Cloudera is seeking a seasoned full‑stack ML engineer to embed with strategic enterprise customers in Australia. You will design technical use cases, prototype AI applications, and ship scalable AI/ML solutions on the Cloudera platform.

Key responsibilities

• Develop full‑stack AI/ML applications and agentic systems to demonstrate real‑world enterprise use cases.
• Partner directly with customers to move AI prototypes toward production readiness.
• Advise customer leaders on AI roadmaps, solution design, deployment, and governance.
• Codify successful patterns into reference architectures, starter kits, and internal playbooks.
• Mentor internal teams and provide feedback to product groups to improve the AI platform.

Required profile

• 7+ years building production‑grade systems, including 2‑4 years focused on ML or GenAI/agentic applications.
• Strong hands‑on software and data engineering skills with experience delivering full‑stack ML applications.
• Ability to engage technical and executive audiences, translate needs into actionable strategies, and operate autonomously in fast‑moving environments.

Required skills

• Foundation models, context engineering, fine‑tuning, semantic search, Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG), agentic workflows.
• LLMOps/MLOps practices: evaluation, observability, serving, monitoring, lifecycle management.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Cloudera data platform technologies (Spark, Iceberg, NiFi).
• AI infrastructure: NVIDIA GPUs, inference optimization, model serving, distributed AI workloads.
