Forensic Clinical Specialist (Part-Time, Fixed Term)

About the role

St Vincent's Health is recruiting a part-time (0.6 FTE) Senior Clinical Specialist, Forensic Clinical Specialist, for its Clarendon Clinic in East Melbourne. This is a fixed-term position until November 2027, within a community mental health team that uses a recovery-oriented model of care and the Strengths Model of Case Management. The role provides clinical assessment and consultation to staff of the integrated adult mental health service, with a focus on risk assessment and management of consumers with forensic backgrounds or identified problem behaviours.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a high standard of clinical assessment and consultation to clinical staff, recommending targeted interventions for consumers with complex mental health needs and forensic presentations
• Provide supervision, education and leadership to staff within the Strengths Model of recovery-oriented practice
• Build alliances and capacity with external stakeholders and other teams in the mental health program

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration (if relevant)
• At least 10 years of post-qualification clinical experience in mental health services
• Extensive experience assessing and managing consumers with complex mental health presentations, including problem behaviours, complex risk profiles and forensic presentations
• Experience providing clinical supervision to other mental health staff
• Comprehensive understanding of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 (including amendments) and other relevant legislation
• Current Victorian driver's licence and a valid nationally coordinated criminal history check, or willingness to obtain one
