Fleet and Maintenance Manager - Heavy Vehicle Fleet, Sydney
Employeur non precise · Sydney
Job description
About the role
A recruiter is advertising a Fleet and Maintenance Manager vacancy for a large heavy vehicle fleet operating across multiple Sydney sites. The client is part of an ASX-listed group with more than $2 billion in revenue, and the role reports to the Managing Director NSW, with 12 managers reporting in. It covers the full life of a fleet of 1,000+ heavy vehicles and a smaller car fleet, including maintenance, renewal and retirement, and sits at the centre of a zero emission transition.
Key responsibilities
- In the first six months, set up purchasing and approval processes that keep suppliers paid on time, and build relationships with the 12 managers and set a delegation model.
- Take ownership of the next electrification program and set maintenance KPIs by site, including availability, preventive maintenance compliance and cost, against contract and roadworthiness obligations.
- Deliver the zero emission rollout to the client's standard while keeping maintenance spend on budget.
- Build a forward replacement plan accounting for build lead times and quality assurance, and set up a charging and maintenance readiness plan, including high voltage safety competency for workshop teams.
- Act as fleet point of contact for serious incidents, leading mechanical investigations and recommending engineering fixes.
Required profile
- Engineering-led fleet leader who has owned a large, multi-site heavy vehicle fleet across its whole life, from acquisition to disposal.
- Experience leading maintenance teams through workshop or depot managers.
- Experience forecasting replacement needs, managing build lead times with manufacturers including overseas, and quality assuring new vehicles.
- Experience holding a maintenance budget across multiple sites or cost centres and building and mentoring a team.
- Experience in a comparable contracted fleet environment is an advantage; zero emission or electric fleet experience is highly regarded.
- Unrestricted working rights in Australia; pre-employment checks are required.
What we offer
- Whole-of-life ownership of a large heavy vehicle fleet at a point where the groundwork on electrification is done.
- Direct reporting to the Managing Director NSW, with visibility at the top of the business.
- A high-performing team, a maintenance budget under control, and additional resources being put in place.
- Based in Sydney's Inner West, with regular travel between sites and some interstate travel.
Applications are made through the recruiter's advert; email applications are not considered.
