Fire Protection Engineer – Buildings Group

About the role

Aurecon is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join its Buildings team, delivering fire protection designs for projects across South Australia and Victoria. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, sub‑consultants and clients to ensure safe, compliant building solutions from concept through construction.

Key responsibilities

• Develop wet and dry fire protection designs in line with the NCC and relevant Australian Standards.
• Coordinate design outputs with multidisciplinary teams, local authorities and fire brigades.
• Participate in technical reviews, quality assurance and design governance processes.
• Conduct site investigations, assessments and project coordination related to fire protection.
• Manage design interfaces and delivery outcomes across sectors such as defence, data centres, health, education and research.

Required profile

• 5–7 years of experience in fire protection design for building projects.
• Proven ability to work within multidisciplinary consulting teams.
• Strong communication and collaborative skills.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused mindset.
• Eligibility for baseline security clearance is preferred.

Required skills

• Fire protection design (wet and dry systems).
• Compliance with NCC (National Construction Code).
• Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards.
