Fire Industry Trainer

About the role

Wormald, a fire protection company founded in 1889, is hiring a full-time Trainer for its Newcastle team. The role covers clients across the Hunter Valley, Newcastle and the Central Coast, and plays a key part in developing and delivering high-quality training to clients and staff, including monitoring induction programs. Wormald runs nationally recognised training (RTO provider number 2839) and also offers non-accredited emergency response training.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate, develop and deliver internal and external training programs.
• Deliver accredited RTO courses such as Cert II in Fire Protection Inspection & Testing and First Attack Firefighting Equipment Training, in line with ASQA compliance.
• Deliver non-accredited programs such as Warden Training, Emergency Awareness Training and Fire Extinguisher Training.
• Maintain training records and prepare reports.
• Conduct site surveys to assess emergency preparedness.
• Update evacuation diagrams in line with AS 3745 and prepare and review emergency procedures and plans.
• Maintain strong client relationships and provide high-quality customer service.

Required profile

• Previous experience in the fire industry is advantageous.
• Current Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (or equivalent).
• Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing preferred but not essential.
• Understanding of RTO standards and knowledge of fire industry standards and WHS legislation.
• Current NSW driver's licence, White Card and relevant licences.
• Self-motivated, able to work unsupervised and independently.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
• Effective written and verbal communication and time management.
