Financial Crime Product Compliance & Risk Senior Manager

About the role

The Product Compliance & Risk (PC&R) team sits at the centre of Wise’s product development function, supporting cross‑functional teams to deliver compliant‑by‑design products. We are seeking a highly motivated, customer‑centric senior manager in Sydney to elevate our Australia and New Zealand financial crime risk management programme.

Key responsibilities

• Design and continuously improve products and controls, translating regulatory requirements and financial crime risks into practical, scalable solutions that keep the customer experience front‑of‑mind.
• Stay ahead of financial crime trends and the regulatory agenda in AU/NZ, assess and present risks both quantitatively and qualitatively, and collaborate on risk mitigation plans.
• Conduct regulatory gap analyses, define remediation actions and ensure timely implementation, working with global teams to leverage existing programmes.
• Represent Wise in external engagements such as audits and regulatory inspections, explaining and defending our financial crime controls and developing remediation plans.

Required profile

• Expert in financial crime compliance and risk management in AU/NZ with 8+ years experience in financial services, translating regulations into actionable business requirements.
• High ownership and autonomy, able to identify improvement opportunities, prioritize and drive work from inception to completion with limited oversight.
• Problem‑solving attitude with ability to analyse complex regulatory frameworks and propose customer‑centric, scalable solutions using data‑driven decision making.
• Strong communication skills to interact with product, engineering, auditors and regulators such as AUSTRAC.
• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with global stakeholders and influence without authority.
• Willingness to challenge the status quo and balance compliance with optimal customer outcomes.
• Legally authorised to work in Australia.
