Financial Counsellor (Part-Time Max Term)

About the role

Anglicare WA is recruiting a Financial Counsellor for a part-time max-term position (0.6 FTE) in Manjimup, ending 30 June 2027. The role provides a financial counselling service that helps clients in financial hardship understand their situation, access support services and build financial resilience. Clients are supported to make informed decisions and to advocate and negotiate with creditors, and services are delivered by phone.

Key responsibilities

• Provide financial counselling by phone, helping clients understand their financial situation and access support services
• Support clients to make informed decisions and take action
• Advocate and negotiate with creditors on behalf of clients
• Engage actively with diverse community groups and run outreach activities
• Deliver and support community education projects

Required profile

• Diploma in Financial Counselling, or relevant community services experience with willingness to complete the diploma
• Eligibility for accredited membership with the Financial Counsellors Association of WA
• Current National Police Clearance, WA Working with Children Check and WA driver's licence
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team

Required skills

• High financial numeracy
• Client and stakeholder management, advocacy and negotiation
• Knowledge of credit procedures used by major utilities and debt recovery and income maintenance processes
• Cross-cultural ability, especially with Aboriginal people
• Computer skills in Office 365 and client management systems

What we offer

• Salary of $104,188.50 plus 12% superannuation
• Salary packaging of up to $15,900 (about $4,000 after tax) plus up to $2,650 for meals and entertainment
