Financial Controller Retail

About the role

ActewAGL is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead financial excellence within its Retail business. Reporting to the Group Manager Commercial Services Retail, you will ensure accurate reporting, provide strategic insights, and drive continuous improvement across the Retail Partnership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the integrity and accuracy of Retail financial reporting in line with Australian Accounting Standards and internal policies.
• Manage month‑end close, balance‑sheet reconciliations and maintain general‑ledger integrity.
• Deliver insightful analysis of revenue, margins and costs, highlighting trends, risks and opportunities.
• Prepare and oversee monthly Business Performance Reporting and year‑end audit processes.
• Provide technical accounting advice on strategic initiatives, products and business decisions.
• Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and automate financial processes and controls.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting or a related discipline with CA or CPA accreditation.
• Significant senior‑level experience in financial or management accounting, preferably within a retail environment.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and proven ability to improve financial processes while maintaining governance.
• Advanced analytical and financial modelling capabilities.
• Experience leading and developing high‑performing finance teams.
