Financial Controller - Modular Cabins & Homes

About the role

An established and growing high-end cabins and homes business based in Gympie, Queensland, is looking for a Financial Controller. The role provides finance support across the business, covering accounts, job costings, financial reporting and approvals, and is offered part-time over four days a week with flexible hours.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of job costings and financial reporting, liaising with accountants
• Manage supplier and subcontractor invoicing and payments, including purchase order matching and approvals
• Oversee end-of-month reconciliations and stocktake processes
• Maintain accurate subcontractor compliance records, including public liability and WorkCover
• Manage project information and tool/asset records
• Complete weekly payroll entry information for the external accountants
• Set up new clients and projects, and invoice starter packs and deposits in Constructor
• Coordinate building approvals with the Building Certifier, including QLeave and QBCC requirements, and organise soil tests, effluent requirements and energy efficiency documentation
• Assist with plumbing applications, council permits and decision notice certificates, and book inspections with the Onsite Manager
• Attend production team meetings and help with approval-related actions

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar position and openness to learning the approvals side of the role
• Strong attention to detail, organisation and time management
• Confident communicator able to liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, councils and certifiers
• Proactive, collaborative approach to multiple deadlines
• Building and construction approvals experience desirable but not essential; training provided

• Confidence with accounting and payroll systems
• Microsoft Excel
