Financial Controller - Mining & Resources

About the role

MARS Recruitment is recruiting experienced Financial Controllers and senior finance professionals with strong backgrounds in mining, resources and ASX-listed organisations, based in Perth, Western Australia. The role suits commercially minded finance leaders who combine technical accounting expertise with operational experience, people leadership and the ability to support businesses through growth and change. The position is listed as a contract/temporary role.

Key responsibilities

• Manage financial control, management accounting and statutory reporting, including monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
• Prepare ASX reports, Board reports and reports for the Audit Committee
• Manage taxation, compliance and external audit processes
• Handle treasury management, cash flow forecasting and banking relationships
• Partner with CFOs, senior executives and operational stakeholders
• Oversee finance across mining operations, exploration and capital projects, including businesses moving from construction and development to operational production
• Lead, mentor and develop finance teams, and improve financial systems, internal controls and reporting processes

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce or Finance
• CA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification
• 5+ years in a Financial Controller or senior finance leadership position
• Extensive experience in mining, resources or mining services
• Previous exposure to ASX-listed environments
• Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards, taxation and statutory reporting

Required skills

• Budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling
• Advanced Excel and financial modelling
• ERP systems, particularly SAP S/4HANA
• Stakeholder engagement, leadership and change management
