Financial Controller

About the role

We are looking for a Financial Controller to lead the finance function of Heaps Normal, an Australian non-alcoholic drinks startup. You will combine strong accounting expertise with commercial insight to support logistics, venue and overall business performance while ensuring accurate financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Own the month-end close process, driving speed-to-close while maintaining accuracy and integrity.
• Lead the annual external audit and manage multi-entity, multi-currency consolidations.
• Oversee working capital management, focusing on cash conversion cycle and seasonal cash-flow variations.
• Bridge the CFO’s strategic direction with the accounting team’s execution, aligning financial plans with business objectives.
• Mentor the Finance Manager and support finance operations across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and cash management.
• Identify and resolve workflow inefficiencies across the business, implementing process improvements that reduce downstream finance impact.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant with several years of experience in a fast-moving operational environment.
• Commercially minded, able to translate operational issues such as stock discrepancies into financial insights.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to influence cross-functional teams.
• Proven ability to manage audits, multi-entity reporting and cash-flow forecasting.
