Finance Technical Lead - SAP BW HANA

About the role

Rio Tinto is looking for an experienced SAP BW HANA lead to help the Finance Domain deliver sustainable reporting, analytics and planning solutions across its global business. Reporting to the Manager of Reporting and Analytics within Information Systems and Technology (IS&T), you will act as the technical authority for the Finance data and analytics platform, guiding solution design, architecture and delivery. The role supports the transition from SAP BW/4HANA to a modern data ecosystem, working with Group Finance stakeholders, Business Analysts, Project Managers, delivery partners and IS&T teams.

Key responsibilities

• Translate reporting, analytics and planning requirements into sustainable solutions
• Define solution architecture and technical direction across SAP BW/4HANA and emerging platforms
• Design, build and assure high-quality solutions aligned with Rio Tinto's architectural standards
• Partner with Group Finance stakeholders to prioritise work and manage expectations
• Guide development teams and delivery partners, mentoring colleagues
• Manage technical risks, issues and dependencies
• Drive solution quality, performance, security and governance
• Support the evolution of Finance analytics across SAP BDC, Datasphere, SAC, Databricks and Power BI

Required profile

• Solid experience delivering SAP BW/4HANA or BW on HANA solutions, including native HANA development, architecture, data modelling and performance optimisation
• Experience turning Finance reporting and planning requirements into scalable solutions for large, global organisations
• Ability to influence stakeholders and lead delivery teams, vendors or implementation partners
• Experience working across geographically dispersed teams
• A commitment to health, safety, environment and security leadership

Required skills

• SAP BW, ABAP, LSA++, authorisation models, Analysis for Office and SAP ECC Finance processes
• Helpful: SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) and SAP Datasphere
• Helpful: Power BI with SAP data sources, Databricks and cloud-based analytics platforms
• Helpful: experience in mining, resources or other safety-critical industrial environments
