Finance & Payroll Officer

About the role

This hybrid position combines end‑to‑end payroll processing with finance and HR support for a well‑established Australian organisation. You will ensure accurate, compliant payroll for Australian and international staff while contributing to continuous improvement projects across payroll, finance and HR.

Key responsibilities

• Process fortnightly payroll for all Australian employees and monthly payroll for international assignees.
• Prepare EFT payments, post payroll‑related general ledger entries, and reconcile payroll accounts.
• Calculate and remit superannuation, PAYG, payroll tax, workers' compensation, child support and other statutory obligations.
• Maintain payroll systems, employee records, and support BAS, FBT and other finance compliance activities.
• Assist with remuneration, benefits, employee engagement initiatives and finance‑related projects.
• Support internal and external audit requirements and reporting.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of end‑to‑end payroll experience in a medium to large organisation.
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation (PAYG, payroll tax, superannuation, workers' compensation).
• Highly organised, detail‑oriented and able to meet strict deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills, confidentiality and ability to manage competing priorities.

Required skills

• Experience with payroll systems such as Access Micropay or similar platforms.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
