Finance Officer – Rates

About the role

The City of Kwinana is seeking a Finance Officer to join its Rates team. Reporting to the Rates Coordinator, you will help ensure rate revenue is accurately levied, maintained and collected in line with policies, procedures and legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Administer rates, maintain property data and support revenue collection processes.
• Manage debt recovery activities, including reviewing debtor accounts and initiating appropriate actions.
• Provide advice and assistance to ratepayers, government agencies, settlement agents and internal stakeholders.
• Contribute to process improvements, documentation reviews and the development of work instructions, forms and policies.

Required profile

• Experience and knowledge of local government rating principles, rates administration and debt collection.
• Understanding of the Local Government Act 1995 (WA) and related financial management regulations.
• Strong communication, negotiation and customer‑service skills.
• Excellent numeracy, analytical and reconciliation abilities.
• Highly organised with the capacity to manage competing priorities and confidential matters.
• National Police Clearance.

Required skills
