Finance Officer – Finance Business Line

About the role

We are looking for experienced Finance Officers to join the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) Finance Business line. In this role you will support a range of financial management and tax‑technical accounting activities across several specialised teams, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of financial services.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse financial and taxation data, identify issues and apply established policies and procedures.
• Prepare and review budgets, forecasts, reconciliations, and financial reports.
• Support the preparation of monthly financial statements, journal entries and accruals.
• Contribute to corporate budgeting, strategic resource allocation and financial analysis for decision‑making.
• Provide finance, payroll, travel and tax administration services, including GST and PAYG withholding.
• Maintain general ledger mappings and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and ATO policies.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to communicate financial information clearly.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in financial management, budgeting or tax accounting.
• Ability to manage workload effectively and deliver accurate results on time.
• Strong judgement in line with legislation, policy and procedures.
• Team‑oriented mindset with good communication skills.
