Finance Officer - Accounts Payable

About the role

Amentum is recruiting a Finance Officer to join the Finance team at the Air Combat System Project Office (ACSPO), which manages the long-term sustainment, maintenance and logistics of Australia's F-35A fleet and its life-cycle support. The role works under limited direction, handles a high volume of international supplier invoices and acts as a point of contact for accounts payable inquiries, based at RAAF Base Williamtown near Newcastle, NSW.

Key responsibilities

• Process a large volume of international supplier invoices accurately, with correct coding and compliance with organisational and regulatory requirements
• Verify funds availability before payments and escalate discrepancies where required
• Prepare and post journal entries for month-end and ad-hoc financial adjustments
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation to support audit and reporting
• Collaborate with team members to manage workflow, resolve invoice discrepancies and improve transactional processes
• Respond to internal and external accounts payable queries promptly and professionally
• Contribute to internal controls by following procedures and identifying potential issues

Required profile

• Active NV1 security clearance
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex and evolving environment
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to prioritise and adapt to changing work demands
• High attention to detail and accuracy in processing a high volume of invoices

Required skills

• Defence writing skills
• Compliance with Acquisition and Sustainment, Procurement Reform, ERP and NDS requirements
• Timely delivery of tasks from the ACS Branch

The position is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with work-from-home options on Fridays depending on task requirements.
