Finance Officer – Aboriginal Health Service

About the role

The Finance Officer supports an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service in Port Augusta, delivering safe, high‑quality, culturally appropriate health services. The role provides day‑to‑day financial and administrative support, ensuring payroll, payments and cash handling are processed efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Process payroll and manage cash floats, receipts and banking of monies.
• Allocate incoming funds, pay suppliers promptly and maintain office supplies.
• Support the Patient Transport Scheme (PATS) bookings and manage stationery levels.
• Assist with motor vehicle fleet administration and upkeep of office machinery.
• Liaise with external agencies, accreditation bodies and funding organisations.

Required profile

• Ability to communicate empathetically with Aboriginal people and demonstrate cultural understanding.
• Willingness to work out‑of‑hours, travel intra‑ and inter‑state (including overnight and light‑aircraft travel).
• Current unrestricted driver’s licence and full vaccination as required for health service environments.
• Successful completion of a National Police/Criminal Record Check and other background checks, renewed every three years.
