Finance Manager – Strategic Finance Leadership

About the role

We are seeking a senior finance professional to lead the financial operations of the Coalition of Peaks Secretariat. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will provide strategic financial guidance and ensure compliance with regulatory and audit requirements while supporting the organisation’s mission to close the gap for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all financial and accounting activities, including planning, budgeting, reporting and cash management.
• Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, audit and policy obligations.
• Provide financial analysis and advice to support organisational decision‑making.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including the National Aboriginal Community‑Controlled Health Organisation.
• Lead and develop the finance function, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing finance functions, preferably in a not‑for‑profit or community‑controlled organisation.
• Ability to balance operational finance delivery with strategic financial planning.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislative, regulatory, audit and compliance requirements.
• Collaborative leadership style with confidence to engage a broad range of stakeholders.
• Demonstrated cultural acumen and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander contexts.
