Finance Manager - Retail Property

About the role

JLL is hiring a Finance Manager for one of south-east Australia's largest retail centres, Dandenong Square. The role takes full ownership of the day-to-day financial management and administration of the centre, including operating budgets, outgoings, forecasting, cash flow management and financial reporting. It works closely with the Centre Management team (Centre Manager, Operations Manager, Facilities Manager and Marketing Manager) and acts as a trusted financial advisor to internal stakeholders and clients.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and process month-end reporting, including variance commentaries on the centre's financial performance
• Control operating costs and communicate financial performance clearly to Centre Management
• Deliver accurate, timely client financial reporting, including monthly and quarterly reports, reforecasting reports and the financial part of monthly investor reports
• Assist in preparing annual property budgets and periodic reforecasts
• Prepare owner remittances and remit funds to owners as required
• Liaise with external auditors on outgoings audits and adjustments
• Calculate and account for percentage rent, incentives, rent abatement, rent smoothing and amortisation journals (IFRS)
• Post accounting and accrual adjustments and present monthly and forecast results to clients

Required profile

• Proven experience in property accounting or retail property finance
• Strong understanding of property accounting principles
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders
• Collaborative, self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Understanding of IFRS and general accounting principles for commercial property management

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel
• Budget, forecast and variance report preparation and analysis
• Preferred: tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• Preferred: property management or accounting software such as MRI or Yardi, and familiarity with outgoings audits, percentage rent and lease accounting
