Finance Business Partner - Property Development

About the role

An international business is seeking a Finance Business Partner to support its Australian property development projects, based in Melbourne CBD. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will work closely with development leaders, project managers and joint venture partners, providing financial oversight from early planning through construction and completion. This is a hybrid position.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project budgets, cash flow forecasts and cost-to-complete reporting.
• Track expenditure, commitments and milestones, and identify potential overruns and funding needs early.
• Partner with project managers to challenge assumptions and support commercial decisions.
• Coordinate debt and equity drawdowns, funding requests and joint venture reporting.
• Own accounting and month-end reporting for development SPVs.
• Assess accounting treatment for development expenditure, including capitalisation.
• Support tax compliance, financial controls and reporting to overseas stakeholders.

Required profile

• Experience in property development accounting or finance, with a practical understanding of project costs, cash flows and the development lifecycle.
• Ideally a Development Accountant seeking broader commercial ownership, or a Finance Manager who stays close to the detail; experience in a smaller developer is also relevant.
• Ideally CA or CPA qualification.
• Exposure to SPVs, joint ventures and project funding arrangements.
• Confidence engaging with non-finance stakeholders and explaining financial risks clearly.

• Salary of 140,000 to 160,000 AUD per year.
