Field Technician

About the role

Fortescue is looking for experienced Field Technicians to join its Resource Definition teams across Pilbara sites. The role operates on a FIFO roster (8 days on, 6 days off) and supports geologists and earthworks in open‑pit mining operations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct escorts in the AOZ and ensure compliance with Fortescue standards and statutory obligations.
• Support resource definition geologists and earthworks staff, completing assigned tasks.
• Investigate and correct laboratory reconciliations, dispatch samples, and record sample bag numbers accurately in the database.
• Meet performance objectives and KPIs, and propose process improvements to supervisors.

Required profile

• Experience in a similar role within open‑pit mining is highly regarded.
• Proactive, motivated, and able to work in physically demanding conditions.
• Strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High attention to detail and willingness to learn new skills.

Required skills

• Manual C Class driver’s licence.
• Forklift licence (highly regarded).
• Basic to intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word).
