Field Engineer / Geologist – Geotechnical Site Investigation

About the role
ConeTec Pty Ltd is seeking a Field Engineer / Geologist to support geotechnical site investigations across Australia and the wider Oceania region. The role involves operating specialised testing equipment, collecting high‑quality data, and ensuring safe, efficient field operations.
Key responsibilities
- Operate and maintain geotechnical equipment such as Cone Penetration Testing (CPT), Vane Shear Testing (VST), Dilatometer (DMT) and sampling systems.
- Assist operators and engineers on‑site, including mobilisation and demobilisation of equipment in challenging environments.
- Perform routine maintenance to keep equipment in optimal condition.
- Conduct field testing, record data, field notes and photographs, and compile daily logs.
- Submit collected data and reports to engineers or clients and support the data‑management team with queries.
Required profile
- Strong focus on safety, accuracy and efficiency in field operations.
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication abilities.
- Problem‑solving mindset and willingness to travel across Australian states, Tasmania, PNG and other Oceania locations.
- Based near Brisbane, Sydney or Perth (remote candidates considered).
