Executive Director for Independent Schools in the Northern Territory

About the role

The Independent Schools Northern Territory (ISNT) is seeking a values‑driven leader to steer the organisation through its next phase of growth, translating the 2026–2029 Strategic Plan into action and outcomes for member schools across the Territory.

Key responsibilities

• Shape strategy, advocacy and policy influence for independent schools in metropolitan, regional and remote areas.
• Strengthen governance, financial sustainability and organisational capability.
• Provide high‑quality advice to the Board, support risk oversight and ensure accountability.
• Lead development of a sustainable financial model and oversee delivery of government‑funded programmes.
• Build trusted relationships with school boards, principals, government agencies, regulators and community partners.
• Anticipate policy developments and articulate clear sector positions at Territory and national levels.

Required profile

• Senior executive experience in education, government, peak bodies, membership organisations or not‑for‑profit sector.
• Demonstrated strategic vision combined with practical execution and strong financial/commercial judgement.
• Ability to work with culturally diverse communities, including Aboriginal organisations.
• Proven advocacy and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Leadership experience managing a small, capable team.
