Events Adviser

Job description
About the role
Clayton Utz is looking for an Events Adviser to join its national Events team within Clients and Markets, reporting to the Events Manager in Sydney. You will manage your own portfolio of events with a high degree of autonomy, working directly with Partners, lawyers and teams across clients and markets, from targeted client events and industry roundtables to major national programmes, sponsorships and large-scale firm events.
Key responsibilities
- Take events from the first conversation through planning, delivery and follow-up, shaping the audience, format and experience with Partners and teams.
- Suggest new formats, venues and approaches that will produce better results.
- Build event plans and run sheets, manage invitations and registrations, and coordinate internal teams.
- Source and negotiate with venues and suppliers, manage contracts and keep spend on track.
- Lead delivery on the day and handle last-minute changes calmly.
- Help identify and manage sponsorships and external partnerships supporting the firm's events.
- Use HubSpot, event technology, data and emerging tools to improve future events.
- Contribute to broader national Clients and Markets projects and business development, and support other members of the Events team.
Required profile
- Around four years or more of experience in corporate events, ideally in professional services or another complex environment.
- Judgement on what makes an event work, and the ability to work with senior people and build trust quickly.
- Ability to manage several events at once, understand budgets and suppliers, and make sound decisions about time and money.
- Curiosity about new technology, data and AI, and calmness under pressure.
- Flexibility for early starts or evening events.
Required skills
- Hands-on approach: contributing ideas and getting into the detail needed to deliver them.
- Organisation and commercial awareness.
- Experience with event management platforms, HubSpot or other marketing technology is useful, though the ability to learn quickly matters more.
What we offer
- Professional development and career growth opportunities.
- Flexible working.
- Health and wellbeing initiatives.
- Up to 26 weeks' paid parental leave with superannuation, plus the option to buy up to four extra weeks of leave each year.
