Environmental Manager – Energy from Waste

About the role

The Environmental Manager leads environmental compliance, performance and sustainability at the East Rockingham Waste‑to‑Energy facility, ensuring the plant meets all regulatory and corporate standards while supporting safe and efficient operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead compliance across licences, approvals, regulatory reporting and regulator engagement.
• Manage environmental monitoring programmes (air emissions CEMS, water, noise, odour, waste and residue) and drive performance improvements.
• Develop and maintain Environmental Management Plans, ISO 14001‑compliant systems, legislative registers and compliance frameworks.
• Handle incident reporting, investigations, root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Plan and conduct audits, inspections and assurance activities, ensuring continuous improvement.
• Act as primary liaison for regulators, clients, communities and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline.
• 7+ years’ environmental management experience in a regulated industrial environment.
• Strong expertise in environmental compliance, emissions monitoring and ISO 14001 EMS.
• Proven ability to manage regulator relationships and navigate EPA/DWER frameworks.
• Knowledge of Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS) and NGER requirements.
