Engineering Quality Manager

About the role

The Royal Flying Doctor Service South Australia / Northern Territory is seeking an experienced Engineering Quality Manager to lead its safety and quality systems across the Engineering, Airworthiness and Maintenance Control functions. Reporting to the Head of Aviation Safety & Quality, the role oversees internal auditing, external regulatory interfaces such as CASA surveillance, supplier and subcontractor assurance, safety investigations and root-cause analysis, and provides independent, evidence-based advice on compliance and quality performance. It is based in Darwin or Adelaide.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and continually improve the Engineering and Maintenance Control Quality Management System (QMS)
• Manage internal audits and regulatory assurance activities, including CASA surveillance and the close-out of findings
• Ensure engineering and maintenance activities meet aviation regulatory, safety and quality requirements
• Lead safety investigations, risk assessments and root-cause analysis, with effective corrective and preventative actions
• Advise Engineering, Maintenance Control and senior leaders on quality and compliance
• Build relationships with regulators and stakeholders and promote a safety culture and continuous improvement

Required profile

• Senior experience in aviation engineering, airworthiness, maintenance control, safety or quality management
• Strong understanding of the Australian aviation regulatory environment
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Aviation or a related discipline, or extensive industry experience
• Lead Auditor and Safety Investigation qualifications
• CASA-approved key personnel experience in aviation maintenance or engineering is highly regarded; a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is desirable

Required skills

• Knowledge of CAR 30, CASR Part 145, DAMP and TSP, AS9110C, SMS and QMS
• Auditing, risk management, investigations and corrective actions
• Leadership, communication, negotiation and stakeholder management
