Health & Safety Advisor

About the role

Veolia Environmental Services is looking for a Health & Safety Advisor to work with its Resource Recovery division in Darwin, Northern Territory. The role provides H&S assistance and support, coordinates H&S activities such as managing H&S databases and systems frameworks, and delivers training and mentoring. It sits within an experienced team and a broader national H&S team, and is a permanent full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Engage and coach operational leaders and the workforce in physical and psychosocial risk reduction, building their capacity to work safely
• Provide thought leadership and evidence-based advice to operations
• Champion safety at H&S meetings, pre-start meetings and other relevant meetings
• Facilitate and take part in internal audits and risk assessments
• Provide data-driven safety performance reports and insights
• Develop and deliver safety training and communication materials
• Anticipate future scenarios and update understanding of related risks

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety or Risk Management, or in Health, Social Science, Engineering, Law or Human Resources
• Experience in a similar Health & Safety Advisory role within mining or heavy industry
• Proven experience facilitating ICAM incident investigations
• Previously developed and facilitated workshops and coached leaders and the workforce

Required skills

• Auditing training and/or business improvement qualifications (Six Sigma, Kaizen)
• Incident investigation facilitation
