Engineering Manager - Machine Learning

About the role

Lead the creation of REA's dedicated residential machine‑learning capability, guiding a distributed team and coordinating delivery across multiple product tribes.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and lead a dedicated ML team, defining its mission, practices and engineering standards.
• Coordinate work across residential tribes, adapting to changing priorities and product roadmaps.
• Set expectations for a distributed contractor team and negotiate timelines with product stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance on ML, data science and data engineering, reviewing code and architecture.
• Drive design and delivery of AI/ML products using NLP, large language models, semantic search and other modern techniques.

Required profile

• Experienced engineering leader with a strong background in machine learning, data science or data engineering.
• Proven ability to lead software, data or ML teams delivering high‑quality product outcomes.
• Comfortable reviewing code, identifying design flaws and challenging solutions.
• Experience working with global, offshore or distributed teams and managing ambiguity.
