Engineering Manager

About the role

JBS Pork Australia is recruiting an Engineering Manager for its Corowa site (NSW), reporting to the Manager - Progeny Systems. This is a senior leadership position within the maintenance team, providing engineering solutions and systems of work to keep farming facilities safe and driving continuous improvement through facility upgrades. Facilities include pig housing, feed systems and silos, effluent systems (including some biogas), and gas and electrical equipment such as generators, PLCs and feed control systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead maintenance and engineering strategy so facilities are safe, compliant and support animal welfare.
• Develop and run preventative maintenance programs across sites, with compliance tracking.
• Ensure regulatory compliance for electrical, gas and safety requirements.
• Oversee maintenance systems of work to prevent critical equipment failures (generators, water pumps, automation).
• Provide technical leadership to Site Managers, Supervisors, trades and production teams.
• Manage maintenance budgets (R&M and capital), including planning, cost control and forecasting.
• Lead commissioning and onboarding of new facilities.
• Drive continuous improvement by finding root causes of failures.
• Manage capital projects end-to-end, and oversee contractors for safety, cost and biosecurity.
• Develop team capability, including coaching and performance management.

Required profile

• Mechanical or structural engineering degree; an electrical engineer with relevant experience is also considered.
• Understanding of maintenance work management and of high-risk activities (working at heights, confined spaces, electrical and gas regulations).
• Proven ability to lead, manage and motivate staff, and to plan and control project and maintenance activities.
• Sound knowledge of OH&S regulations in NSW and VIC, and a White Card.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to work flexible hours.

Required skills

• Intermediate computer skills.
• Working knowledge of controlled ventilation facilities for intensive animal production is an advantage.
• Qualifications in maintenance management are an advantage.
