Engineering & Architectural Graduate (Draftsperson)

About the role

Structability is a consulting engineering and building design firm in Southern Sydney, specialising in the architectural, structural and civil design of residential buildings. It is looking for an Engineering & Architectural Graduate to join its multi-disciplinary Design Development team, performing architectural, civil and structural design work. Candidates should have achieved or be near completion of their relevant qualifications.

Key responsibilities

• Lodge DA applications on the portal, manage the DA process and prepare Statements of Environments, Waste Management Plans and similar documents
• Coordinate with subconsultants such as heritage, bushfire, stormwater, structural, civil, surveyors and arborists
• Draft architectural, structural and civil design drawings
• Perform site measurements and detailed documentation for waterproofing, flashing, detailing, sections and windows
• Carry out site inspections of existing buildings and visualise architectural plans to help outline structural elements
• Coordinate approvals with certifiers and manage the planning approval process

Required profile

• Relevant qualification completed or nearly completed
• Practical experience in the NSW Home Building industry, including knowledge of the BCA
• Attention to detail, accuracy and ability to solve problems quickly
• Self-motivated team player with strong organisation skills, able to work independently and meet tight deadlines
• Fluent spoken and written English
• Able to start as soon as possible

Required skills

• Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD (versions 2009 to 2014), paper and model space, following drafting standards
• Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe
