Engineer - Hybrid Compute

About the role

eHealth NSW is looking for a motivated Engineer – Hybrid Compute to design, deploy and operate hybrid IT infrastructure that integrates on‑premises systems with public cloud platforms. You will work closely with senior engineers, cloud architects and IT operations to ensure performance, security and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain hybrid infrastructure across Azure and AWS.
• Administer Windows Server and Unix/Linux systems, ensuring stability and security.
• Manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V) including compute, storage and networking.
• Automate provisioning and configuration using Terraform, Ansible and scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
• Oversee server patching via SCCM and support enterprise print services.
• Provide Tier 2/3 on‑call support, monitor systems and collaborate with security teams.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with Windows Server and Unix/Linux administration.
• Solid background in virtualization (VMware, Hyper‑V) and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
• Proficiency in automation tools (Terraform, Ansible) and scripting languages.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals, SCCM patch management and endpoint security.
• Familiarity with DevOps/Agile practices and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
