Emergency Veterinarian

About the role

VicVet, backed by Apiam Animal Health, is recruiting an Emergency Veterinarian for its new purpose-built Emergency & Referral hospital in Whittlesea, which opened in April 2026. The hospital combines primary care, emergency and critical care and is expanding referral services, with planned investments in medicine, oncology, CT, surgery and advanced referral capabilities. The role suits both experienced emergency clinicians and GPs ready to start their emergency career.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver emergency and critical care in a modern hospital designed for triage, diagnostics and critical care.
• Manage a diverse emergency caseload and contribute to clinical workflows and protocols.
• Work with veterinarians, ECC nurses and the wider clinical team, with a mix of sole-charge and team-based shifts.
• Receive mentorship from experienced clinicians and support from a dedicated ECC nursing team.

Required profile

• Veterinary degree registrable in Victoria (BVSc, DVM or equivalent).
• Experience in, or a strong interest in, emergency and critical care.
• Clear communication, able to work independently and within a team, and committed to clinical excellence.

• Remuneration of $120,000-$180,000 plus superannuation, commensurate with experience.
