Emergency Medicine Consultant – Regional Hospital, Mount Isa

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Consultant to join a busy regional hospital in Mount Isa. You will work as a Senior Medical Officer or Staff Specialist, delivering acute and critical care to a diverse community while supporting remote sites via telehealth.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert emergency assessment, treatment and critical care across a broad case mix.
• Offer telehealth advice and support to remote health facilities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high‑quality patient outcomes.
• Participate in a 1:3 standby on‑call roster, compensated per occurrence.

Required profile

• Medical degree with full registration as a Medical Practitioner on the Medical Board of Australia.
• Unconditional registration and a current C‑Class driver’s licence.
• Extensive clinical experience in emergency medicine, capable of managing diverse and critical cases.
• Willingness to work 10‑hour shifts on an 8‑on/6‑off roster (part‑time options available).
• Commitment to regional, rural and remote health service delivery.
