Emergency and Critical Care Veterinarian (ECC Vet)

About the role

Southpaws Specialty Surgery in Malvern is looking for a full-time ECC Veterinarian to join its specialist-led Emergency and Critical Care department. The team includes a Criticalist (DACVECC), senior MANZCVS-ECC clinicians and senior and dedicated ECC and ICU nurses, providing 24/7 emergency care. The role works a rotating roster of days, nights, swings and weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Provide emergency and critical care across days, nights and weekends
• Work an average of 6 shifts per fortnight, each 12.5 hours long
• Collaborate with the specialist lead surgery and anaesthesia departments
• Take part in monthly department meetings and weekly morning presentations on ECC topics

Required profile

• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree and eligibility for registration with the Victorian Veterinary Board
• At least 2 years' experience in an emergency or ICU hospital, or 2 years in general practice with on-call or after-hours exposure
• Comfortable working a rotating roster including days, nights, evenings and weekends
• Willingness to learn and a professional, positive approach
