Clinical Trial Assistant - Phlebotomy/Laboratory

About the role

Cabrini Health is hiring a Clinical Trial Assistant for its Research Studies team in Malvern. This is a 12-month fixed-term position at 0.4 FTE, with ongoing opportunity, supporting the Research Study Coordinators and Clinical Trials Team. The role covers participant assessments, biospecimen sample processing, inventory management and administration activities required by each protocol.

Key responsibilities

• Collect blood samples by venepuncture and other specimens at specified time points
• Process blood samples per protocol, including using a centrifuge to separate them
• Track, store, organise and ship biospecimen samples
• Perform tests such as vital signs, height and weight measurements, and Holter and ECGs at scheduled times
• Prepare and organise clinical trial kits and consumables, with associated admin duties
• Work with internal departments and external vendors, including query resolution, courier liaison and support for the nursing team
• Keep in regular contact with study coordinators to schedule patients and collections on time

Required profile

• Certificate III or IV in Pathology Specimen Collection (required)
• Recent venepuncture and ECG collection experience (at least one year); blood sample processing experience preferred
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with attention to detail and accurate documentation
