Embedded Software Engineer (C++, Medical Devices)

About the role

The Devices Software team at Resmed creates specifications and designs for new products and improvements to existing ones, using an Agile mindset to deliver embedded software such as device applications, drivers, user interfaces, control systems, wireless and cellular communications, and the CI/CD system. As a Software Engineer you will help design and develop embedded software for Resmed's next-generation medical devices, building firmware features, application-layer logic and reusable platform components within an Agile team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and test embedded software in C++ for firmware and application layers
• Use or learn Python for scripting, tooling and automation support
• Work in Agile teams using GitHub/Bitbucket, JIRA and Confluence
• Improve Jenkins workflows and contribute to CI efforts
• Ensure code quality through reviews, unit testing and debugging
• Turn customer requirements into technical solutions and take ownership of tasks, leading small features when needed
• Keep learning new technologies and complex systems

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics or a related field
• 2 to 4 years of experience in embedded software or application development
• Valid Australian work rights; the position is based in Sydney with a hybrid arrangement of 2-3 days in office per week

Required skills

• Strong C++ skills with solid design and data structure fundamentals
• Exposure to Python with willingness to ramp up
• Agile experience with Git, JIRA and Confluence
• Familiarity with CI/CD and tools such as Jenkins
• Preferred: experience in regulated or safety-critical industries (e.g. medical devices, automotive), TDD knowledge, and a proactive approach to learning new tools
